First Visit to Meadow Lake Dental Care
Your initial appointment will consist a comprehensive examination of your teeth and the soft tissues of your mouth. We will ask what your needs and wants are as well as discuss your medical and dental history. The appropriate radiographs will be taken and reviewed by Dr. Rickard. A comprehensive treatment plan will be made based on our findings and your needs and wants.
A new patient visit for an adult will typically last for one hour or more. If your needs are simple, treatment may be started the same day as the new patient exam. If you have immediate concerns they may be addressed at your first visit after a limited exam and a more comprehensive examination and treatment plan can be scheduled for another date. If you give the receptionist as much information as possible when making your appointment so that we will be prepared to address your needs in the most convenient manner possible.
A new patient visit for a young child last about 45 minutes including a tooth cleaning and a fluoride treatment. X-rays will only be taken when necessary. Your child will probably find the visit to be fun and interesting. We tell our young patients everything then need to know to feel comfortable. Children respond to us better when parents remain in the waiting room but parents are free to stay with their children or come back and observe at any time they want. There is no reason for you or your child to be nervous. Most children will do fine if you just tell them that are visiting the dentist to get their teeth cleaned and don't forget to mention that they get to take home a present from the dentist's treasurebox.
If you provide us with your insurance contact information prior to your appointment, our staff will be most likely to be able to help you understand your insurance benefits by the end of your visit. If you have had current radiographs from another office it is best to have them sent to us prior to your first visit.
A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18.
